Discover the Classical Music Tradition of South India
Carnatic style of music is the classical music tradition of South India, with a rich vocabulary of melody, rhythm, composition and improvisation.
Carnatic Vocal training develops the voice alongside a strong foundation in śruti (pitch), svara (musical notes), rāga (melodic pattern) and tāla (rhythm). Students progressively build musicality, listening skills, rhythmic awareness and repertoire.
Training progresses from fundamental vocal exercises and simple compositions towards more developed musical material.
The emphasis is on developing a strong musical foundation through listening, repetition and regular practice.
